YPS, Patiala hosted 28th Col frank Von Goldstein Memorial English Debate on May 3-5, 2018. The teams of 13 leading schools participated in this debate. All the teams gave each other a tough competition and spoke eloquently about the range of well-chosen topics. The participants articulated their views passionately in response to the arguments made by their opponents.

The purpose of organising this debate every year is to pay the tribute to Col Frank Von Goldstein, who inspired the students to enhance their debating skills. The Students involved in debates and speech develop higher-level thinking skills through the research work they go through for their topics. They develop the confidence of speaking their mind and placing their views in front of others. It also increases problem-solving abilities and overall academic performance.

 Director of YPS, Maj Gen Sanjiv Varma addressed the participant teams and wished them good luck for the debate.

Mr. Anirudh Tiwari, IAS, Principal Secretary, Finance, Planning and New and Renewable Energy Resources, Government of Punjab and also an Old Yadavindrian was the esteemed Chief Guest for the final round of the debates.

The two teams to reach the final round of debate were Army Public School, Ambala Cantt and Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls Public School, Jodhpur. The topic for last deciding round was “LEGALIZING EUTHANASIA IS A HUMANITARIAN GESTURE”.

There was a Hardliners debate prior to the final round of debate. Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana and Bhavan Vidhyalya, Chandigarh were the participants of the Hardliners debate. The topic was “RESERVATIONS CREATE UNEQUAL SOCIETIES”. After speaking in favour of the topic, Bhawan Vidhyalya, Chandigarh won the Hardliner debate.

The Judges for the final debate were Mrs. Kumkum Bajaj, retired Former Dean of Punjabi University, Patiala, in language and an eminent writer and trained Soft Skill Consultant, Mrs. Hartej Tiwana, who is an associate Professor and Head Of English Department in GCG and Mr. Ankur Mahindroo, PCS, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Patiala and a distinguished Old Yadavindrian too.

In the final round of debate, both Army Public School and Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls Public School gave each other a tough competition but ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL ,AMBALA CANTT BAGGED THE TROPHY BY WINNING 28TH COL FRANK VON GOLDSTEIN MEMORIAL DEBATE.
