The extremely fit, agile and energetic youngsters of YPS, have added many feathers in the cap by winning several accolades in sports. Our sports stars have carved a niche for themselves and have set new landmarks and standards for budding players. At YPS, our aim is to nurture best talents in sports and to find and encourage the untapped ones at grass root level. YPS has produced a large number of National and International players so far. Medal tally has been rising up year after year, which is an outcome of true dedication, determination, untiring efforts of our students and their coaches.
YPS, Patiala offers a plethora of sport opportunities to the students. More than 22 games are offered to the students like Swimming, Tennis, Taekwondo, Squash, Judo, Fencing, Roller Hockey, Cricket, Hockey, Soccer, Athletics, Skeet/Trap Shooting, Badminton, Boxing, Archery and many more. 2018-19 has been very successful and fortunate year for YPS for a large number of students participated in State, National and International level of sports and bagged several medals. 54 students have been selected for National games, out of which 14 students have won medals. At International level, 8 students represented India globally in Shooting, Taekwondo and Fencing and 7 International medals, including 4 Golds have been added to the prestigious medal tally of YPS so far.
After scintillating performance of our Hockey and Cricket team in IPSC, 15 students from Hockey team have represented IPSC in Nehru Cup, out of which, 7 players have represented IPSC team in SGFI nationals(Ranchi), whereas, 3 players from Cricket team have also represented IPSC on the same platform.
These young players are the proud torchbearers of YPS who promote hardworking ethos time to time for other budding players.
YPS,Patiala, Notches Top Positions in Education Survey
YPS, Patiala, has for the first time been ranked number 1 in Punjab and number 8 in India in a survey carried out by the Education Today Publication Group. The survey conducted among the schools of the country, rates the schools on parameters of academic reputation, individual attention, infrastructure provision, innovative teaching, safety and hygiene, sports education, value for money, holistic development, leadership management quality and co-curricular activities.
The award will be formally given out at a special ceremony to be held in December.
The School Director, Major General Sanjiv Varma, has conveyed his appreciation and congratulations to the school fraternity on maintaining the high standards and exhorted all to continue the hard work and bring laurels to the School.
