YPS ALUMNI SHINES IN UPSC EXAM

“There is no substitute for hardwork,” remarked Naman Singla, a YPS alumnus of ISC 2017 batch.

It was a proud moment for all the teachers in YPS when the UPSC results were declared a few days back. Our hearts swelled with pride as an old student, Naman Singla, had cleared the UPSC Civil Service examination. Naman has secured 47th rank in his first attempt.

An IFS(Indian Foreign Services) aspirant, shared his journey so far with us. A National Level Tennis player and an excellent orator had always outshined during his school days. He was an all-rounder who was awarded Yadavindra Gold Medal in class XII and also bagged the Dhaliwal Silver Medal for 4 years consecutively from class IX-XII. He also took part in various IPSC competitions.

A graduate in Political Science and Economics from St. Stephens College, Delhi was a student of high calibre who always remained focused and determined towards his goals. “I was always encouraged by my teachers in YPS to push myself and explore my potential. I remember getting the chance to go to Kasauli Literary Festival in school, where I got an opportunity to interact with ex-IFS officers like Mr. Mani Shankar Aiyar. Thereafter, I frequently interacted with distinguished alumni in the IFS, including Dr. Jaishankar, Mr. Shivshankar Menon and others. This germinated a keen interest in International relations within me, and convinced me to consider diplomacy as a career path,” Naman shared when asked about his inspirations.

This young luminary prepared diligently for the exam for one year. He used to dedicate 10-12 hrs a day to his studies. He preferred staying away from social media but in touch with his friends. “It is important to work hard, deal with pressures and hardships with the right attitude, and constantly strive to make a positive contribution to the country. Essentially, live by the motto - Vidya Vinay Veerta,” he added this as a message to all young Yadavindrians.

YPS team congratulates Naman Singla for his achievement and wishes him good luck for his future endeavours.
