Yadavindra Public School, Patiala organised a resplendent two-day cultural extravaganza, Spic
Macay, Shruti Amrut, in association with the gracious support of the Ministry of Culture. This
prestigious event took place on July 29 and 30, 2023, at the school's Captain Amarinder Singh
Auditorium.
The Chairman of Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, Raja Malvinder Singh graced the event with his
esteemed presence. The event was further adorned by the presence of esteemed board members,
YPS Director, Maj Gen BS Grewal, VSM (Retd.), Ms. Rashmi Malik, Chairperson SPICMACAY
Foundation, and respected dignitaries from district administration. YPS staff, students and eminent
personalities from the city also attended the event, witnessing a rich celebration of Indian culture.
The event also saw the participation of students of different schools of the region. The event
witnessed an awe-inspiring lineup of renowned artists who mesmerized the audience with their
exceptional talent and passion for Indian traditions.
Susmita Das: An eminent singer and recipient of the Kendriya Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Her
soulful voice and captivating performances have garnered widespread acclaim. Her Oriya folk singing
won the hearts of the audience. The audience applauded when she surprised everyone with Punjabi
songs.
Dr Alankar Singh: An acclaimed Gurbani singer and recipient of the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan
Yuva Puraskar for Gurbani Kirtan from the Sangeet Natak Akademi. His renditions of sacred
hymns have touched the hearts of many.
Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, the illustrious maestro of Indian classical sitar from the Imdadkhani
Gharana and Padma Shri Awardee, left the audience spellbound with his sitar recital.
Begum Parveen Sultana, the celebrated Hindustani classical singer from the Patiala Gharana and
another Padma Shri Awardee, enchanted the attendees with her powerful and emotive vocal
performance.
The event also featured a press conference, where Chairman of YPS board of governors, Raja
Malvinder Singh interacted with representatives from various media houses. The conference
included Rani Hari Priya Kaur, YPS Director, Maj Gen BS Grewal, Ms. Rashmi Malik, Chairperson
SPICMACAY Foundation, YPS Deputy Headmaster, Mr. Anil Bajaj, Bursar YPS, Lt Col RD Sharma, Mr.
Rajesh Khanna, President of SPICMACAY in Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. During
this conference, everyone shared the purpose and idea behind organising this event.
